Effect of five berry polyphenols and auricularia auricular polysaccharides combination on radiation protection

  • Lonizing radiation could lead to seriously damage on human health. This study selected five northeastern region-specific berries and auricularia auricular as raw material to develop of mixed beverage with radiation protection function. The active combination were extracted from blueberries (Vaccinium uliginosum L. ) ,red beans cranberries(Vaccinium vitis-idaea L.),Lonicera edulis(Lonicera caerulea L.),sea buckthorn(Hippophae rhamnoides L.) and mountain viticis(MaLus baccata L.) mature fruit,as well as auricularia auricular. The content of active combination in mixed ingredient was determined. The reducing power and the protective effect on rat spleen lymphocytes after radiation of the mixed ingredient were also measured. Results indicated that the combination of sea buckthorn, indigo fruit and black fungus possessed the highest content of polyphenols, anthocyanins and flavonoids, the contents were respectively (4.34±0.08),(4.84±0.13) and (1.17±0.05)μg/mL. This combination also had highest reducing power and significant radiation protective activities. At the concentration of 10mg/mL,the survival of rat spleen lymphocytes was increased to 88.77% ±2.53% in mixed ingredient treated group compared to radiation group, which survival was only 49.26%±1.21%. Therefore, results indicated administrate the mixed beverage could enhance the antioxidant and anti-radiation activities of hunman body.
