Optimization of extraction of volatile oil from Rosa damascene Mill by response surface methodology

  • Rosa damascene Mill was used as raw material to extract volatile oil using a modified oil extraction apparatus. Based on single factor experiments, the optimal extraction process was determined using central composite design combined with response surface methodology. Results showed that the optimal extraction process was based on powdered raw material with distilled water at a liquid /solid ratio of 25∶1 ( mL /g) for 8.5h.The value of extraction yield of volatile oil from Rosa damascene Mill was 3.136% .This method had some advantages over conventional method, like simplicity as well as high extraction yield and abundant chemical composition of volatile oil.
