Study on the anti-ageing of Chinese yam polysaccharide on drosophila

  • To observe the effect of Chinese yam polysaccharide on the anti-ageing in Drosophila, the study was investigated through four parameters, these parameters were the number of feed, sexual energy, flying ability and life-span.The experimental result showed that feeding 5% Chinese yam polysaccharide significantly increased the number of flies feeding (males increased by 88.6%, females increased by 46.8%, p<0.01) , drosophila sexual activity was significantly increased by 40.2% (p<0.01) .Flies flying ability increased significantly by 22.1% (p<0.01) .Average life-span of drosophila (male drosophila increased by 28.0%, female drosophila increased by 36.8%, p<0.01) and maximum life-span (male drosophila increased by 24.0%, female drosophila increased by 46.0%, p <0.01) .The experimental result showed that Chinese yam polysaccharide had the function of delaying consenescence.
