Study on the microencapsulation of bisdemethoxycurcumin by spray drying

  • Bisdemethoxycurcumin microcapsules were prepared sequentially by emulsification, homogenization and spray-drying using bisdemethoxycurcumin as the core material and modified starch in combination with sucrose as the wall material in this study. Experiment results showed that the optimum conditions of microencapsulation were temperature 60℃, time 2h, the ration of core-material to wall-material 1∶20, modified starch/ sucrose weight ratio of 6 ∶1, feeding speed of 800mL/h, air inlet temperature of 160℃ and air outlet temperature of 80℃ . The microencapsulation yield of bisdemethoxycurcumin was not less than 95% under these conditions.
