Effect of glutinous rice on rats with the spleen deficiency syndrome

  • Rats were fed by the water extract of rhubarb to make the spleen deficiency syndrome model. Then the effect of the glutinous rice flour and glutinous rice amylopectin starch on the general living conditions, body weight and gastrin content were compared. The results showed that the general living conditions were worse, and the body weight and the gastrin content were significantly decreased (p<0.01) in the spleen deficiency syndrome model group compared with the normal group. Compared with the spleen deficiency syndrome model group, the general living conditions were better, and the body weight and the gastrin content were significantly increased (p<0.01) in the glutinous rice flour group and the glutinous rice amylopectin starch group. And the effect of the glutinous rice amylopectin was better than the glutinous rice flour. The conclusion was that the glutinous rice flour had the improvement in the spleen deficiency syndrome, and the mechanism was closely related with the glutinous rice amylopectin starch.
