Antioxidant activities of functional components from Kummerowia Striata

  • The extraction of flavonoids, polysaccharides, amino acids and polyphenols from Kummerowia Striata were carried out, and their antioxidant activities were evaluated.The results indicated that there was a large amount of flavonoids and polysaccharides, which contents were 22.58 and 11.58mg /g. The contents of polyphenols and amino acids were less, which were 3.04 and 0.518mg /g, respectively. Moreover, antioxidant experiments showed that flavonoids, polysaccharides, amino acids and polyphenols from Kummerowia Striata had strong scavenging abilities for free radicals.Their IC 50 for DPPH· were 24.87, 29.07 0.46, and 48.73 μg /mL, respectively.And their IC 50 for ·OH free radical were 5.35, 7.2, 0.08, and 125.41 μg /mL, respectively.
