Methanotrophs can use methane as the only carbon and energy source. Methanotroph M13 was cultivated with different carbon source such as methane and methanol, and the growth curve was measured. The cell morphology, colony morphology and the growth conditions were observed and analyzed. The results showed that as the gram - negative bacteria , the colony of methanotroph M13 was big , round , white brevibacterium, and M13 could produce the pink pigment in a long-term culture. The growth of methanotroph M13 was much better with methanol as carbon source than methane.
