Prospects of applying Near Infrared Spectroscopy in aquatic products

  • As a convenient, fast and high-efficient inspection technology, the Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR) has unique features and bright future in the inspection of crops, fruit and vegetables, meat products and other objects. The freshness and edible security of aquatic products are directly linked to pepole’s life and health, and also affected trade of aquatic products. It is very important to assess the freshness and edible security of aquatic products. In this paper, the application prospects of NIR in the inspection of aquatic products such as freshness, protein content, fat content, and so on, were mainly reviewed through the applications of NIR in the inspection of meat products, in hope that the NIR could get more extensive application in aquatic products.
