Optimization of ultrasonic-assisted extraction of total flavonoids from leaves of Sedum spectabile Boreau by response surface methodology

  • Response surface analysis methodology was used to optimize the extraction technology of total flavonoids from Sedum spectabile Boreau leaves. The total flavonoids were extracted using ultrasonic assisted ethanol extraction. On the basis of single factor, Box-Behnken response surface methodology was employed for selecting the optimum extraction process by the indexes of the contents of total flavonoids from Sedum spectabile Boreau leaves.Total flavonoids of optimum extraction conditions were as follows, 72% of the ethanol concentration, liquid-solid ratio of 21:1, ultrasonic temperature of 64℃, ultrasonic time 48min.Under these conditions, the total flavonoids extraction was 3.116%.The extraction process obtained by response surface methodology was stable and reasonable, accurate and reliable. It was a feasible method to extract the total flavonoids from Sedum spectabile Boreau leaves.
