Process optimization for extraction of procyanidins and nuciferine from the lotus leaf

  • Objective:To optimize the extracting process of procyanidins and nuciferine from the lotus leaf simultaneously. Method:Orthogonal design was used to optimize the extracting process of procyanidins and nuciferine with the transfer rate as the evaluation index. The effect of several important factors such as the pH of extracting solvent, the volume fraction of acid, the extraction time, the material-liquid ratio and the extract times of procyanidins and nuciferine were studied. Result:The optimal extraction process was as follows:0. 3% (v/v) of phosphate water solution;the material-liquid ratio was 1∶ 25;two times with 90min per time. The transfer rate of procyanidins was 89. 2%, while the transfer rate of nuciferine was 69. 9%. Conclusion:The optimum extraction processes were stable, economical, feasible and adapts for industrialized production.
