Effect of bovine serum albumin on cellulase in hydrolysis of wheat straw

  • Bovine serum albumin (BSA) and cellulase were added to wheat straw pretreated by dilute sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide to assess the effect of BSA on the enzymatic hydrolysis.0.04g BSA increased reducing sugar yields by 30% and 22%, respectively, at a cellulase loading of 40U/g straw for 48h.BSA improved the rate of enzymatic hydrolysis and reduced enzyme deactivation of acid pretreated wheat straw.BSA increased cellulase activity by 1 time or more with filter paper as substrate. The results showed that BSA could improve the stability of enzyme and reduced deactivation of enzyme due to binding with lignin.
