Abstract:
Rats were fed on three kinds of resistant starch to study the effect of resistant starch ( RS) on intestinal structure and function in Rats. The results showed that RS2, RS3 and RS4 could increase the total cecal weight, cecal wall weight and weight and moisture content of cecal contents; changing the morphology of small intestine, cecum and colon.RS3 was more significant on increasing the total weight of the cecum, cecal wall weight, cecal contents weight and moisture content and changing muscle thickness, and mucosal thickness in intestine, and RS4was more significant on decreasing villous height in intestine. However, RS2, RS3 and RS4 did not cause morphology pathological changes in the small intestine, cecum and colon.
