Abstract:
Calcium carbide, has been widely used in agriculture as a fruit ripening agent and plant growth regulator.Although, with the advent of the calcium carbide security issues, calcium carbide has been in many countries banned as a fruit ripening agent, but many regions still use it.On the other hand, in recent years a large number of studies reported that calcium carbide could be used as a plant growth regulator effecting the growth of plant.This paper reviewed the physical and chemical properties of calcium carbide, the application of edible agricultural products and security issues of calcium carbide, it was aim to complement the deletion of calcium carbide in the safety evaluation, provided a theoretical basis for its further development.
