Abstract: In order to find out the direction of tobacco sheet process developing, contents of reducing sugar, soluble sugar, starch and protein in cigarette and raw materials, partly- finished product and finished product of tobacco sheet were determined and comparatively analyzed.Reducing sugar, soluble sugar and starch were quantified by DNS assay, and protein was quantified by National Standard GB 5009.5-2010.It was shown that parallelism errors were acceptable.There were obvious differences among contents of the cigarettes, tobacco stem, tobacco dust, wood fiber, sheet matrix, un- roasted sheet and finished sheet. The results indicated that the soluble components decreased by a higher percent.Comparing with cigarette, the contents of undesirable components such as starch and protein in the raw materials, partly-finished product and finished product were lower.
